I am planning a small side business constructing garden sheds. ?
The sheds will be built on site not delivered by a truck. I have also developed plans to convert these sheds into small cabins for hunting camps, retreats, etc. Are these products something you as a consumer would be interested in purchasing? Particularly the converted cabin idea. Or do you have ideas of how i can improve the shed to meet your needs. Thanks for your input, this will help greatly when final business plans are developed.
Thanks for all your input. it is a big help.
When you try to sell your idea make sure you have a lot of images so that people can picture what your product would be like. Show the product in context an explain the different uses. The cabin idea sounds neat– how much do you plan to charge? Are there other businesses that have a similar product?

Your idea of constructing sheds is a great idea – With the cabin building sounding like a great idea as well. Careful marketing and planning is the key they rightly say. I also was into building garden sheds – and even have a storage shed and small barn collection of designs http://www.homeplansforfree.com/Free_New_Garage_Plan_Designs/index.php I have started putting together so people can have a visual idea of the new shed or garage storage building they would like. What a lot of work to build a small plan on-line! I recently have been considering adding apartment garage and shed plans with the collection – perhaps adding a few cabin plans might also be of interest?
Shed building also is an area where the mark up is very low – unless you are into building in large production or have a very low overhead for producing the new buildings as a friend of mine used to build the sheds for a lumberyard and when all was said an done he was breaking even on the storage sheds so be sure to do have a business plan as stated. Hopefully the cabinet building industry works out a little better for you!
Wishing you the Very Best!
I like the cabin idea too. Make sure you have pictures and people are clear on prices. You could make up a brochure and deliver it to as many as you can. Also if you have a brochure you might try your local lumber company and see if they will put your brochure on the counter where people pay.
I like your idea!
Your small business idea sound great, awesome!

Good luck, you are now your way building a success income generating cabin conversion business
I think you have a great idea! There are too many of the same old sheds in every yard. I also think you should look to an upscale market- you know the people- nothing is too good for their child! I guess they would be play houses. The sheds can be customised to each client’s dreams. As for the cabin idea- what about heat? You should look into showing your sheds at a home and garden show. Make sure you have photos of various sheds and lots of ideas (and price estimates) to satisfy your inquiries.
